HB Vineyard is a tiny 1.5 acre vineyard located in the heart of Sonoma Valley off of Old Winery Road. Hank and Nancy Bruce, friends of the family farm this historic land which is the site of the iconic Haraszthy Vineyard where Agoston Haraszthy, often referred to as the "Father of California Viticulture" or the "Father of Modern Winemaking in California", planted his first California vineyard in 1856. Haraszthy was the founder of the Buena Vista vineyards (now Buena Vista Carneros) in Sonoma, California, and an early and important writer on California wine and viticulture. This pioneer winemakerunderstood the merits of this loamy and cobbled soil, locally known as huachica, and the micro-climate of this cool pocket nestled in the Sonoma Valley AVA (American Viticulture Area). The open top fermentation utilizes ambient yeast, making our flagship wine, the HB Family Vineyard Zinfandel, truly unique and very special.
